You are not a damsel in distress
nor a princess to be saved
you are a warrior
and you woke up like this;
beautiful in your fury,
stunning in your victory.
And if the tide flows red
and friend or foe
tries to treat you as less;
you show them the scars
of lightning – the livid
lily flesh of survival
not even Zeus can contest,
show them the fires
in your eyes
and thunder storms
in your mind,
show them courage
in a smile
or in a resting bitch face
because you are not
a damsel in distress
nor a princess to be saved,
you are blood and bones,
ink and hope;
breathing in spite
of the world.
